Concrete Painting Process

DAY 1

Clean & Etch

For unpainted concrete surfaces, we start with a high-pressure wash, followed by a deep, thorough scrub with hydrochloric acid to ensure optimal surface preparation. This removes all oil and contaminants. Next the concrete must be “etched”.

What is etching? Etching is removing a tiny top layer of concrete, openening up the pores, and creating a slightly rough texture, allowing the paint to penetrate and grip the surface effectively—reducing the risk of peeling, flaking, and failure.

DAY 2 atfer drying

1st Coat Paint

After allowing the concrete to completely dry (This may take days depending on weather) the 1st coat is ready to be applied. For unpainted concrete, the 1st coat is thinned down and acts as a base layer, soaking into the concrete to promote strong adhesion, and may appear patchy, which is normal before applying the second coat

DAY 2

2nd Coat Painting

The second coat is applied once the first has fully dried, with White Knight Grip Additive mixed into the paint to provide a durable, non-slip finish. The additive is stirred in gradually and kept well mixed during application to ensure an even texture throughout. This final coat is then rolled on evenly across the surface, creating a consistent, slip-resistant finish that improves safety and enhances the overall durability of the coating perfect for those Gold Coast wet summers.
